Haepuru and Haematua are the second set of twins who gifted the skull, in the creation of Hine-ahu-one, to house the brain that Rōiho and Rōake gifted. These twins, who alongside Whiro took the gifted scroll designs from Nuku-te- āio and placed them on the panels of Wharekura.
Haepuru and Haematua who then take their place alongside Io-matua-kore.
