Tāwhirimaatea - Paper Print

Ko Tāwhirimaatea tēnei, te atua o ngā hau. Nāna hoki Te Whānau Titi. Tāwhiri was angry with his brothers for separating their parents and raged war on them with the strong forces of the wind. He attacked Tangaroa by throwing sea-life onto land. He attacked Tāne by ripping apart forests and trees etc. This kōrero we know as Te Pakanga o ngā atua. He was so enraged that he tore his eyes out and threw them at the sky where they remain as Mata-ariki.
